What Offband is
Offband is a systems company. We make applications, focused tools, and open protocols for people responsible for technical work that cannot be reduced to a disposable chat, a dashboard, or a handoff meeting.
The work stays close to the operator and the machine where that makes it clearer. We build the software surface, the technical boundary behind it, and the records that help the next person or agent understand what happened.
Why it exists
Useful work often loses its context at exactly the moment another person, system, or agent needs to continue it. Decisions become folklore, operational history becomes a pile of logs, and tools become hard to trust because their boundaries are unclear.
Offband exists to make those systems easier to inspect, operate, and resume. The goal is not to put AI at the center of every workflow; it is to make the surrounding system reliable enough for people and agents to do useful work within it.
How it’s built
- Prefer local-first architecture and native platform behavior when they make a product more legible and dependable.
- Keep behavior observable, boundaries explicit, and meaningful state available for inspection.
- Use protocols when interoperability matters; use products and tools when a focused working surface is the better answer.
- Improve systems through concrete feedback, maintained source, and deliberate changes rather than abstract transformation programs.
